{kansas –> wyoming: jackson hole adventures part 2

Boy oh boy am I missing me some VACATION! How is it possibly the end of June!? Like when did this happen?? Eeks! That said…this part 2 is just a tad bit delayed ๐Ÿ™‚ If you checked out part 1 of this post, you’ll know that I recently spent a wonderful vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming…aka my new love. I have fallen in love with this region! During our week there, we made sure to mix in a few excursions outside of hiking and relaxing. I was so happy with our choices! We booked a fly fishing trip, ATV rentals and a round trip ticket on the mountain tram.

First thing Tuesday morning Dad and Iย ventured out to learn the ins and out of fly fishing! I was SOOOO excited to try this as I’ve wanted to learn for quite some time. We booked our trip through Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School, and wow was I impressed! I have nothing but great things to say about this company. They offered the perfect combination of instruction, education and entertainment. Our guides were great and it is easy to see that customer service is one of the biggest priorities for JHFFS. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat! I really liked that they had a wide variety of choices of classes and trips to help guide you to the best experience. We started by learning to cast on an island on the river before taking to the open water…definitely appreciated by newbies like me! Dad and I also learned about matching the hatch, river patterns and information about the local ecosystems. Check out the sweet boots I got to rock ๐Ÿ˜‰

The next day we rented ATVs from Jackson Hole Recreation in Alpine, WY. Once again, great company with great service! The biggest reason we chose this location was the fact that they didn’t require trailering of the ATVs, an added bonus of ease. We rode around for around three hours checking out the gorgeous scenery…including crossing over into Idaho! Helloooo new state!

Last but not least, we hit up the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram. Right down the road from our house, the tram goes up just over 4,000 vertical feet to the peak of Rendezvous Mountain in Teton Village. I’ll be honest. I was excited to check it out while simultaneously DREADING it at the same time due to the fact that me and heights aren’t exactly BFFs. Although it is really neat, the whole 360-degree view thing made me a wee bit unsettled. That said though, I am so glad I got to do it! Once you got to the top the views were simply lovely. You can see for what seems like forever! There is even a restaurant at the top, Corbet’s Cabin, that serves up some pretty famous waffles. View from the top is well worth it!
